    Ngorongoro National Park

    Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a unique protected area in the whole of Africa where conservation of natural resources is integrated with human development. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area became a Man and Biosphere Reserve in 1971 and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979.
    The Area contains large animals including black rhinoceros, leopards, elephants, lions, buffalos, wildebeests, hyenas, zebras, jackals, eland, gazelles, rare wild dogs, cheetahs and others. Over 500 species of bird have been recorded within Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
    Ngorongoro Conservation Area also contains numerous paleontological, archaeological, and anthropological sites of exceptional quality. The Area has some of the best hotels and lodges in Tanzania.
